Lately I have been thinking about the amount of time I spend commenting other bloggers, or even commenting back when they leave one for me, and I have decided I am probably not making nearly as much time for it as I need to be. I always intend to, and I really want to, but then things get so busy. I spend the time I have on the computer getting things ready to post on the blog, and then I have very little other time left over. I always feel frustrated when that happens though because I do desperately want to comment more, and I know that is what will help grow my blog. With a full time job, and hour commute, working out most nights, and then making dinner...it just never feels like there is enough time to go around!
I thought I would talk to you guys about the whole thing because I am sure that no one would know better about this than other bloggers! How much time do you usually spend commenting on other blogs? Do you have a set time/day that you sit down and do a lot of it? Do you set aside a certain amount of time every day or every other day? Any ideas on how I can improve my ability to get more comments in? Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I usually spend a good 30 minutes to an hour commenting most days. However, I don't get to every single day. With school, clinicals and kids it's hard to do it every day.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely understand! I don't even have kids yet, and I still struggle to find the time! I am going to try for 30 minutes per day though, and see if I can manage that!
DeleteI don't have a specific time for commenting/ replying. I usually reply to comments once I see them, or a day after the post. This applies to memes, especially. For blog hopping/ random comments, I always check my dashboard, even at work, so when I see interesting posts, I check them out and comment. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a good way to go about things. I do wish that I had more time at work to look at my dashboard and comment on posts I like, but I don't get much time to do that with teaching so many classes. I might try to do it when I get to school in the few minutes before school starts!
DeleteOn Saturdays I do my Stacking the Shelves post so I spend Saturday visiting blogs to leave comments then I spend a few hours on Sunday answering comments left on my post. On Tuesday I do Top Ten Tuesday so I visit blogs and answer messages. I've just started Wishlist Wednesday but it is a small meme so it doesn't take long to catch up. Every day I check to see if anyone has posted a message on my blog and try to answer straight away. I'm taking more time to talk to other bloggers this year as I felt I didn't do enough of it last year.
ReplyDeleteI know that I really need to be better about it this year as well, that is definitely something I am trying to work on! I do pretty well on the Stacking the Shelves posts since it's on the weekend, but I would like to find more time to comment on TTT posts as well.
DeleteI stalk blogs while eating breakfast every morning. I just go down my Bloglovin’ feed and click on the interesting posts. It usually takes between 20 and 60 minutes a day.

That sounds like a great way to do it! Unfortunately, I don't have time to sit down and eat breakfast in the mornings :/ Maybe I will in the future though when I don't work an hour away!
DeleteI actually don't allot a time frame for this, but on most days I try to comment on 5 blogs. Sometimes it's more, and it all adds up (:
ReplyDeleteThat's a good way to try to handle it, just trying to comment on a certain amount of blogs a day. Great idea!
DeleteI read other blogs and comment whenever I have a few extra minutes - usually at night before I go to bed. <3 Bee @ Bee Reads Books
ReplyDeleteI need to get better at commenting right before bed as well!
DeleteOh goodness. Ha! I have the same struggle! With work, reading, blogging, and life, it makes it a bit difficult to find the time for commenting. Every few days, I go through Blogger and Blogspot to comment on every single blog post I find interesting. I also make it a point to comment back on blogs that comment on mine. I've actually been commenting on other blogs for the past hour and half. It feels like it's only been minutes. ):

I know I don't spend enough time on this. Like you, Tiffany, I tend to spend my computer time writing up new posts - and lately my internet has been soo difficult that whenever I do sit down to comment, it seems like it always quits working. I do try to take a little time each day to reply to my comments and catch up with my Bloglovin' feed (this way it doesn't mount up). Beyond that, I do try to stop by new blogs every week, and comment on new posts that I find interesting, but I seldom make it.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same, I feel like I read posts more than I comment on them, and I need to make more time for that, and the perfect example is now, since I LOVE reading your content and rarely say so, so, hi, I like your content, keep it up Tiff!x
ReplyDeleteI feel like I don't spend enough time commenting on blogs. I always intend to, and on Bloglovin' I'll even unmark my 'read' posts as a reminder to comment on them, but I seem to get preoccupied or busy or something else. I know for a fact I read more posts than I comment on (I read most posts on my phone). In the future, I'm going to try and comment more, though.

I save some of the posts I'm interested in on Bloglovin', and then take some time out every couple of days to comment on the ones I want to comment on. I used to do this every morning, just scroll through Bloglovin' and comment, but it takes up so much time. And I should really be writing in the mornings. But yeah, every couple of days for about an hour, I'd say :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I spend a lot of time commenting! I think I do it because I feel like it is always so important to give back to the community as well. For every comment I receive on my blog I always reply on my own, and then I visit theirs (if they have one) and try to comment on one or two posts. As well as that, if I can I try to read and comment on 3-6 blogs for each blog post I post as well! Lots of commenting, but that way I make quite a few friends as well :)
