Review: Just like with most of the books I review for blog tours, the thing that drew me to the book was the synopsis. I was interested in it right away, and I had a bit of an idea of what might happen due to the actual synopsis. When I did sign up to review it, I did not know that it was part of a series, and so I was sent a copy of the first book to read as well (I have already reviewed it on the blog, you can find the link above). While it is a companion series more than anything else, I did know that I still wanted to read book one first as usually the characters are the same and make an appearance in the companion books. It would have been silly not to read it first since I had a copy. I did not completely love book one though, so I was really hoping that Eleven Weeks would be more enjoyable for me. Luckily, it was, and I am thrilled about that!

I was not sure how the timing would go compared to the first book, and I was definitely surprised and excited to see that it actually took place during the same time/events of book one. Book two gives us the ability to see things from Stacey's point of view, and I thought that it was really neat that the author did this as usually companion novels seem to happen in a different time frame, after the events in the previous book have already passed.

While I did enjoy Kate as a main character in book one, I have to say that I really enjoyed Stacey as a main character even more. I liked her personality, and I was able to relate to her even more, though I am not sure why since I really do not have much in common with her. I suppose I just could not handle some of the emotion in book one, it seemed unrealistic, but I did not have that problem with Eleven Weeks. The emotions all seemed real and understandable, and I found myself feeling for Stacey when some tragic events took place.

I do believe that this is a story that a lot of teen girls are going to be able to relate to. It is more for older teen girls, as it does involve sex, pregnancy, and some events that take place after that situation. I do think that a lot can be learned from, it, though. It was all done without being preachy, which is very important with topics like this. Still, Stacey is a young girl who has been made to think poorly of herself because her own family has never been supportive and uplifting, and it is something that she has to work very hard to get through and change her mindset.

I really did enjoy the romance in this book as well. Sure, it's nothing new; the characters have known each other for a very long time, have flirted back and forth, but nothing ever came out of it because they were usually dating other people, and no one ever made a move. Things happened, feelings were hurt, and for awhile I really was concerned about how things were going to work out in the end. It was one of the many reasons the book had me wanting to read on and not put it down, even to go to sleep at night. I got through this book in a couple of days, and then I was sad it was over, especially since the last book has not been released yet.

Overall, I really liked Eleven Weeks. I think that many things got better from the first book, and I was very excited to read this book after I realized how much I was going to enjoy the main character. I do think that the actual writing improved from the first book as well, which was also wonderful. I would highly recommend this book, and I cannot wait to read the conclusion to the series.

Rating: 4.0 / 5.0
