Top Ten Books I'd Love To See As Movies/TV Shows

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! As always, I am linking up over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week I am talking about the top ten books I'd like to see as movies or television shows. Wow, I'm sorry I have been so MIA. With the school year wrapping up (5 days left!), things have been busy and hectic over here. I have every intention of getting back to my daily blogging next Tuesday once school is officially out for summer! For now, I thought that this TTT prompt would be a fun one to complete!

1. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass - I feel like this one would make a really fun television show. Sure, it's a lot like the Bachelor, but it's SO much better than that. I am only in the beginning of book two, but I love the characters, and I think that it would be fun to see them on the television screen.
2. My Heart and Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga - I think that this would make a really great romantic drama movie for teens. I thought that the book was beautifully written, and while about a dark topic, it was not depressing. I think that they could do some wonderful things with it on the big screen.
3. Popular by Maya Van Wagenen - This would make for a really fun documentary style show/movie. If you have read the book, then you know it's a memoir about a girl who used this old how-to book in order to attempt to become popular. Seeing the steps fulfilled on the screen could prove to be pretty amusing!

4. The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau - This series would make a fantastic set of movies. It's another dystopian trilogy, and those have been doing pretty well in the box office, I would say. I enjoyed this far more than I enjoyed THG books, so I would love to see it turned into a movie.
5. SNOW LIKE ASHES by Sara Raasch - So far only the first book in this series has been released, and I already know that the whole series would make an incredible series of movies. This has been my favorite book so far this year, and I cannot wait for the next one. There is just the right amount of action and romance in this one to make it a perfect best selling film.
6. Some Boys by Parry Blount - I feel like this one could easily be made into one of those ABC Family television shows - you know the ones, like Pretty Little Liars and Bunheads. It's got a good plot and foundation, and they could certainly feed off the drama to make it into a full length show.

7. Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell - This would definitely make for a very interesting movie, I think. It's not too often you have movies with teenage serial killers who take suggestions on who they should kill. I think it could be done well as long as cheesiness is avoided, no Lifetime movies!
8. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - I am sure that this one will probably show up on a lot of lists today, and for good reason. Would it not be incredible to see this world and the characters on the big screen? I think it would be completely amazing, and I do hope that it actually happens in the future.
9. The Screaming Divas by Suzanne Kamata - This one I COULD see becoming a good Lifetime movie, as it has all the necessary components (I do love me some Lifetime movies). It's a group of teenage girls, all dealing with different family/personal issues in life, coming together to form a band and deal with life. Screams Lifetime Original Movie, don't you think?

10. We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sundquist - I don't think that a movie/show should be based on this book, but I do think that it could definitely spark an idea for a new reality show. Have people confront their exes about why they broke up, or didn't give them a chance to go out on a date. Could be super dramatic, right?

Top Ten Authors I REALLY Want To Meet

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! As always, I am linking up over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week I am talking about the top ten authors I REALLY want to meet. I checked one off my list last week (I will share more about it later this week!), so my top ten list has probably changed a little bit now. I feel like I have done something like this before, but I'm going to do it again anyway. In no particular order, here are the Top Ten Authors I REALLY Want to Meet.

Books: Ask Again Later & Top Ten Clues You're Clueless
I read Top Ten Clues You're Clueless earlier this year, and I fell in love with Czukas writing style. The book was so fun and sweet, and I flew through it because I loved her writing. I definitely need to go back and read Ask Again Later as well. Based on the story, I think that it would be amazing to meet Liz Czukas.

Books: Transformed & Sleeping Tom
E.V. is not just a great author, I am blessed to say that she is also a friend. We have been talking back and forth via social media for quite some time now, and I even had the joy of being a beta reader on her latest book, Sleeping Tom. It would be so amazing to be able to meet her in person, and I do hope to in the future!

Books: A Risk Worth Taking, Imitation, Deviation, & MANY others
I have read several of Heather's books now for blog tours and enjoyment, and there has not been a single one that I have not enjoyed. Her writing is fantastic and always so interesting and exciting to read. I am also in a Facebook group for her, and she seems like such an amazing person. It would be awesome to meet her.

Books: The Divergent Series
I am sure that Roth is probably going to show up on a lot of these lists, but I did have to add her. I think that she is an incredible writer, and I was quite pleased with the character arc and full circle she took her series and characters through. Along with that, she seems like such an awesome person from the interviews and videos I have seen her in. I bet she would be so fun to talk to!

Books: The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, Looking for Alaska, Etc.
I am sure that John Green will be on a ton of lists today as well, but I just had to add him. Aside from the HP series, TFIOS is the only book that I have re-read at this point. Not just once either, but MANY times. His writing is so beautiful and thought-provoking, and from watching his YouTube videos I know it would be awesome to meet him.

Books: Aberrant Series, Orenda, & More
Ruth Silver seems like such an awesome person. I have read a couple of her books, and even have them signed from her, which is always awesome! Her writing is fantastic, she has her own blog that I love to follow along, and she leaves comments on other blogs as well. Overall, she seems like an awesome person, so it would be great to meet her!

Books: Snow Like Ashes Series
I read SLA earlier this year, and it was AMAZING. One of the best books I have read so far this year. Then I contacted Sara via Twitter about doing an Author Spotlight on the blog, and she was amazing about all of it. She seems so easy to talk to, and her writing is absolutely beautiful. Obviously it would be amazing to meet her.

Books: Dear Killer
Dear Killer was my favorite book of 2014, I cannot get over how original the story was, and how beautiful the writing. It's also amazing that Katherine Ewell was eighteen when the book was published - incredible. I think it would be amazing to meet her, though I am sure I would feel so inadequate because she is younger than me and has an amazing book published!

Books: Something Strange and Deadly Series & Truthwitch
I am going to be honest, I actually have not read any of Dennard's books YET. However, I do follow her newsletter, and I am constantly reading her writing advice on her blog as I continue doing my own novel writing. She gives such wonderful advice, and has a wonderful sense of humor in her advice, so I am sure it would be amazing to meet her.

Books: Harry Potter Series & MUCH More
Of course, I could not do one of these lists without adding Rowling to the list. It would be so, SO amazing to be able to meet and talk to her in person. I am sure that tons of people feel the same way because she is so amazing. A girl can dream, right?

Which authors do you REALLY want to meet?

Top Ten Inspiring Quotes from Books

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! As always, I am linking up over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week I am talking about my favorite inspirational quotes from books. I really love quotes, and I love finding ones that really speak to me as I'm reading a good book. Let's be honest, I could have a huge list of Harry Potter quotes and be done, but I don't want to do that! Instead, I'll stick to one HP quote and share some from other books I enjoyed as well. Here are ten quotes from books that really inspire me...

1. "We're all human, aren't we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving."
-J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

2. "But I believe in true love, you know? I don't believe that everybody gets to keep their eyes or not get sick or whatever, but everybody should have true love, and it should last at least as long as your life does."
-John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

3. "Nothing is perfect. Flaws are interesting. Be the tree."
-Laurie Halse Anderson, Speak

4. "In your entire life, you can probably count your true friends on one hand. Maybe even one finger. Those are the friends you need to cherish, and I wouldn't trade one of them for a hundred of the other kind. I'd rather be completely alone than with a bunch of people who aren't real. People who are just passing time."
-Sarah Ockler, Fixing Delilah

5. "Things don't always work out the way we hope. You just have to pick yourself up and find a new direction to go in."
-Joelle Charbonneau, The Testing

6. "Some things don't last forever, but some things do. Like a good song, or a good book, or a good memory you can take out and unfold in your darkest times, pressing down on the corners and peering in close, hoping you still recognize the person you see there."
-Sarah Dessen, This Lullaby

7. "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite."
-Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

8. "I will be stronger than my sadness."
-Jasmine Warga, My Heart and Other Black Holes

9. "Do not accept an evil you can change."
-E. Lockhart, We Were Liars

10. "Someday we will be more than words in the dark."
-Sara Raasch, Snow Like Ashes

Top Ten Books I Recently Added To My To-Be-Read List

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! As always, I am linking up over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week I am talking about the books I have recently added to my TBR list. This was pretty easy to figure out as I just went to my Goodreads To Read list, and just sorted them by the date that I added them. Viola! A very quick list of the most recent books I have added to my TBR list, so those are the books that I am going to use here. A lot of them are going to be 2015 releases, which I suppose makes sense! Here is my list...

1. Tiny Pretty Things by Sona Charaipotra & Dhonielle Clayton
Black Swan meets Pretty Little Liars in this soapy, drama-packed novel featuring diverse characters who will do anything to be the prima at their elite ballet school.

Gigi, Bette, and June, three top students at an exclusive Manhattan ballet school, have seen their fair share of drama. Free-spirited new girl Gigi just wants to dance—but the very act might kill her. Privileged New Yorker Bette's desire to escape the shadow of her ballet star sister brings out a dangerous edge in her. And perfectionist June needs to land a lead role this year or her controlling mother will put an end to her dancing dreams forever. When every dancer is both friend and foe, the girls will sacrifice, manipulate, and backstab to be the best of the best.

 2. Unlovely by Celeste Conway
Accidents happen. But they happen more often when the beautiful ballet dancers return each summer to the island. When he hears the ruthless way that the loveliest dancer talks about boys getting what they deserve when they break girls' hearts, Harley, home for the summer after his first year of college, wonders if he's losing his mind. He knows for sure that he's losing his heart to this girl...But then, strange incidents start happening all over the island and Harley is caught between desire and fear: could he also be in danger of losing his life?

 3. The Brilliant Light of Amber Sunrise by Matthew Crow
Francis Wootton's first memory is of Kurt Cobain's death, and there have been other hardships closer to home since then. At fifteen years old he already knows all about loss and rejection - and to top it all off he has a permanently broke big brother, a grandma with selective memory (and very selective social graces) and a mum who's at best an acquired taste. Would-be poet, possible intellectual and definitely wasted in Tyne and Wear, Francis has grown used to figuring life out on his own.Lower Fifth is supposed to be his time, the start of an endless horizon towards whatever-comes-next. But when he is diagnosed with leukaemia that wide-open future suddenly narrows, and a whole new world of worry presents itself. There's the horror of being held back a year at school, the threat of imminent baldness, having to locate his best shirt in case a visiting princess or pop-star fancies him for a photo-op . . . But he hadn't reckoned on meeting Amber - fierce, tough, one-of-a-kind Amber - and finding a reason to tackle it all - the good, the bad and everything in between - head on.In Bloom is a bright, funny, painful and refreshing novel about wanting the very best from life, even when life shows you how very bad it can be. It is a novel about how to live.

 4. The Lies About Truth by Courtney C. Stevens
Sadie Kingston, is a girl living in the aftermath. A year after surviving a car accident that killed her friend Trent and left her body and face scarred, she can’t move forward. The only person who seems to understand her is Trent’s brother, Max.

As Sadie begins to fall for Max, she's unsure if she is truly healed enough to be with him — even if Max is able to look at her scars and not shy away. But when the truth about the accident and subsequent events comes to light, Sadie has to decide if she can embrace the future or if she'll always be trapped in the past.

5.  A Step Toward Falling by Cammie McGovern
Emily doesn’t know why she froze. Or why Lucas did too. Afterward, she thought of different ways to rationalize it. But the truth is, they could have helped Belinda, and they didn’t. It’s a mistake they’ll both have to live with.

Sometimes doing nothing is the only way to cope.
Belinda doesn’t want to talk about what happened. Because when she does, it feels like it’s happening all over again.

Sometimes good can come from bad.

Emily and Lucas’s punishment is community service at a center for people with disabilities. People like Belinda. Soon they feel like maybe they’re starting to make a real difference. Like they would be able to do the right thing if they could do that night all over again. Like they could help not only those at the center but also each other.

But when Belinda returns to school, Emily and Lucas have to figure out if they can do anything that will actually help the one person they hurt most.

 6. Truest by Jackie Lea Sommers
Silas Hart has seriously shaken up Westlin Beck's small-town life. Brand new to town, Silas is different than the guys in Green Lake. He's curious, poetic, philosophical, maddening-- and really, really cute. But Silas has a sister-- and she has a secret. And West has a boyfriend. And life in Green Lake is about to change forever.

Truest is a stunning, addictive debut. Romantic, fun, tender, and satisfying, it asks as many questions as it answers.

 7. Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
Dave and Julia are best friends. On the brink of high school, they made a list of cliches they would never do. Now in their senior year, Dave and Julia decide to try every Never on the list. As they break out of their comfort zone and have many adventures- both together and apart- they learn a lot more about who they are and what their true feelings are for one another.

 8. Fans of the Impossible Life by Kate Scelsa
Ten months after her recurring depression landed her in the hospital, Mira is starting over as a new student at Saint Francis Prep. She promised her parents she would at least try to act like a normal, functioning human this time around, not a girl who sometimes can’t get out of bed for days on end, who only feels awake when she’s with Sebby.

Jeremy is the painfully shy art nerd at Saint Francis who’s been in self-imposed isolation after an incident that ruined his last year of school. When he sees Sebby for the first time across the school lawn it’s as if he’s been expecting this blond, lanky boy with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Sebby, Mira’s gay best friend, is a boy who seems to carry sunlight around with him like a backlit halo. Even as life in his foster home starts to take its toll, Sebby and Mira together craft a world of magic rituals and secret road trips, designed to fix the broken parts of their lives.

As Jeremy finds himself drawn into Sebby and Mira’s world, he begins to understand the secrets that they hide in order to protect themselves, to keep each other safe from those who don’t understand their quest to live for the impossible.

A captivating and profound debut novel, "Fans of the Impossible Life" is a story about complicated love and the friendships that change you forever.

 9. What's Broken Between Us by Alexis Bass
Alexis Bass’s heartbreakingly beautiful second novel is a tale of love, loss, and learning to forgive.

Look to the left, look to the right. We’re all going to die. But someone has to do it first. So who’s it going to be?

Tragedy struck Amanda Tart’s town a year and a half ago when a sophomore girl was killed in a car accident on graduation night.
Amanda’s brother, Jonathan, was behind the wheel and too drunk to drive. He’s spent the past year in prison and has cut off all ties. But now Jonathan is coming home. Just as Amanda’s trying to figure out what that means for her family and herself, she’s paired up for a school project with Henry Crane—a former crush, and brother of Jonathan’s ex-girlfriend, who survived the crash with horrible injuries.

Everyone is still incredibly damaged by the events of that night. Can Amanda and Henry finally begin to heal what’s broken and find some peace?

 10. More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
Happiness shouldn't be this hard

The Leteo Institute's revolutionary memory-relief procedure seems too good to be true to Aaron Soto -- miracle cure-alls don't tend to pop up in the Bronx projects. But Aaron can't forget how he's grown up poor or how his friends aren't always there for him. Like after his father committed suicide in their one bedroom apartment. Aaron has the support of his patient girlfriend, if not necessarily his distant brother and overworked mother, but it's not enough.

Then Thomas shows up. He has a sweet movie-watching setup on his roof, and he doesn't mind Aaron's obsession with a popular fantasy series. There are nicknames, inside jokes. Most importantly, Thomas doesn't mind talking about Aaron's past. But Aaron's newfound happiness isn't welcome on his block. Since he's can't stay away from Thomas or suddenly stop being gay, Aaron must turn to Leteo to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he is.

Adam Silvera's extraordinary debut novel offers a unique confrontation of race, class and sexuality during one charged near-future summer in the Bronx.

Top 10 Books From My Childhood (Or teen years) That I Would Love To Revisit

Welcome to Top Ten Tuesday! As always, I am linking up over at The Broke and the Bookish, and this week I am talking about books from my childhood and teen years that I would love to revisit. I always think that it is so fun to look back on books that I loved in the past, especially when I was in middle school and everything. There are definitely some favorites from my teen years that I would love to re-read as well. Here are the top ten!

1. House of Night Series by P.C. & Kristin Cast
There was a point in time during my teen years, shortly after these books started coming out, that I was completely obsessed with them. Every time a new one in the series came out I just HAD to buy it and read it right away. I did enjoy the story, but then I guess I just got tired of waiting for the next book and moved on from the series. I do have the first few books in the series again now, so I might try to read at least the first couple of books again.

2. Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
Come on, I'm sure that we all saw this one coming, right? I fell in love with these books so quickly, and I just could not put them down once I started them. I waited in line at midnight for the last book when I was in high school, and it was so worth it (especially the staying up until 3am to read some of it). I am currently re-reading the series and am on book two. I definitely remember why I loved them so much the first time around.

3. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
I have become such a fan of Anderson over the years, but for the longest time this was the only one of her books that I actually knew about and had read. I read this one late in middle school, and it has since remained one of my favorite books ever. I do plan to re-read it again this year, and I do believe that I will probably buy a new copy as well (though I will certainly keep the original, worn copy, too!).

4. Junie B. Jones by Barbara Park
Y'all, these were my jam back in the day (I mean, elementary school...which was a long time ago, now!). I owned almost all of them, if not all of them, and I read them over and over again. They were just such fun reads for a young girl, and always so amusing. While I don't think that I would ever read these again just for me, if I do have a daughter in the future I hope to read these books to her as she grows up. That would be a wonderful shared moment.

5. Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
This is another one that you probably could have guessed, and that I am sure will end up on a lot of lists. I read the Twilight series in my teen years when everyone else was discovering them and they were such a big deal. I flew through them and absolutely loved them. Then my mom read and loved them as well. I have been thinking a lot lately about how I want to order the hardcover box set of these so I can finally re-read them. I think my previous copies got passed on to my brother, or something.

To be fair, I did not read this book until I was in college. However, I did read it in one of my courses that discussed literature for the middle grades, so I decided to go ahead and count it here. I would have loved this book just as much had I read it in my teen years, and I do think that it is a wonderful book for high school level. It had such an intriguing plot and interesting main character that is so different than what we usually see in YA books.

7. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
I have loved this book for a very long time, I am pretty sure since middle school. It has such a wonderful plot and concept, and the fact that a movie was made just added to the appeal for me. I even chose this book to complete a paper on in college, I enjoyed it so much. I think that this is a must read for everyone.

8. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
This is another one that I fell in love with in high school. I thought that it was amazing the first time I read it. Raw and emotional, and just so very good. I have since re-read it a couple of times, and completely fell in love with the movie they made of it (Emma Watson plays a pretty big role in that, but it was very well done). I really need a copy with this cover, though. It's gorgeous!

This is another one that I loved when it first came out, but only read the first couple in the series because I lost interest as I waited for the others to come out. It is such a good story though, and I enjoyed the movies they created as well. They have some newer covers that I really like now, so I plan to buy and read the whole series in the future.

10. Bloom by Elizabeth Scott
I am a huge Elizabeth Scott fan, and this is the first of her books that I remember reading and loving. It probably helped form my love of YA contemporary books, and it was just an enjoyable read for me when I was in my teen years. I am sure that I will re-read it in the future. Perhaps this year.

Which books are on your list?
