Top Ten Books For Readers Who Like Character Driven Novels

It's Top Ten Tuesday time! I'm linking up over at The Broke and The Bookish. I am going to try to be better about doing these posts every week if I am able to. At least, I will really try to do them when I like the prompt for the week. This week is all about books that are character driven. Sometimes it can be really great to read books that are based all around the characters, and some readers really do enjoy these types of books. Here are my Top Ten Books for Readers Who Like Character Driven Novels.

 1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - While there is quite a bit going on in this book, I do think that a lot of it is all about the characters and how well they are developed and intertwine with one another. You fall in love with so many of the characters throughout the story.
2. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - Speak is all about a girl Melinda who is dealing with a traumatic experience on her own because she was too scared to tell anyone else the truth. We get to see her suffer through high school and deal with her own feelings; the book revolves around her choice to finally share her secret.
3. Any Book by Sarah Dessen - Dessen does a wonderful job of creating characters in her books. While there is always a nice plot and other things going on in the story, the characters are always the main focus.

 4. Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler - This is a story about a girl trying to figure out family secrets while also trying to figure out herself. It was a pretty emotional read as the character went through a lot of different emotions as well.
5. Burning Blue by Paul Griffin - I love how this book focused on two main characters instead of just one. They were two very different people as well, which made it even better. It was their stories interweaving that made the whole thing so enjoyable to read.
6. We Were Liars by E.Lockhart - I definitely don't want to say much about this one since it's best for everyone to go in not knowing much, but characters are definitely a huge focus in this book.

 7. Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell - There is a WHOLE lot going on in this story, but the main character was what made the whole thing so intriguing for me. It was crazy to get inside this characters mind and see how she thought through things, it definitely kept me reading.
8. How I Got Skinny, Famous, and Fell Madly in Love - This story was a wonderful one about a young girl learning to love herself no matter what other people say about her. It's all about her journey of losing weight and accepting herself as she is, so the majority of the book revolves around her as a character.
9. Screaming Divas by Suzanna Kamata - This book revolves around four very different young girls who decide to form a band together. It went back and forth between all of the girls, giving a great perspective on all of their different lives and viewpoints.

10. A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall - The greatest thing about this book is that it is all about the two main characters, but we never get the perspective of those two main characters. It is everyone else talking about them, and we have 14 viewpoints/characters total. Definitely character driven!
11. Positive by Paige Rawl - This one is technically cheating, as it is a memoir so it's obviously about the person, which is why I made it number 11. I really wanted to include it because I think that it is a book that everyone should read.

What are your favorite character driven books?

  1. I haven't read a lot of these but I hope to because I am someone who really enjoys character driven novels! I have read the Book Thief and I absolutely loved it, but I also read Along for the Ride but I hated it because it was so boring and nothing very exciting seemed to happen. I will check some of the others out though!
