Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read
Happy Tuesday! I'm linking up today for Top Ten Tuesday over at The Broke and the Bookish. I am really enjoying this link up already, so I know that it is something that I am going to try to keep up with as time progresses. This weeks prompt is the Top Ten Popular Authors I've Never Read...some of these might be a bit sad and shocking, so please do not judge me too harshly!
1. John Green - This one is kind of cheating, because I recently read ONE of his books. However, this one book was amazing, therefore I am sure that all of his are. Due to this, I do not feel like I can fairly claim that I have read his work until I have read ALL of his books. Maybe that sounds a bit silly, but it's how I feel!
2. Veronica Rossi - How have I not read Under the Never Sky? Once I found it on Goodreads, and then saw it all over the place online, I realized that I must have missed the memo on needing to read this series. I intend on fixing this in the future as I have heard wonderful things about Rossi and her work.
3. Ann Brashares - I have seen the movies for The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, but I have yet to read any of the books in the series. My middle school girls cannot believe me when I say that I have not read the books, so I guess I need to fix that!
4. Meg Cabot - I'm a bit shocked by this one myself since I always see Cabot's books all over the school library and bookstores when I'm there. I am not sure why I never picked them up because I am sure that I would like some of them very much. Now I am into Dystopian books and series so much that I have not really looked into her contemporaries lately.
5. Deb Caletti - The sad thing is, I own at least three of Caletti's books. This was in the phase when I would read the back of a paperback, decide it sounded wonderful, spend money on books (since that was all I would buy at the time), and then go home and place it on the bookshelf where it was most likely forgotten. Now that I have gotten through that phase, I intend to finally pick up these books and read them.
6. Cassandra Clare - I know that this one is probably pretty shocking since Clare has a couple of very popular series out there. I am pretty surprised myself, actually. I do plan to eventually read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series. I have heard great things about both of them.
7. Susane Colasanti - I believe that I have a couple of Colasanti's books on my bookshelf as well (they would have been bought during the same time as the purchases of Caletti's books). I used to be REALLY into contemporary books, so I would buy tons of them. I suppose I have gotten away from that a bit, but I would still like to read some of Colasanti's books.
8. Ellen Hopkins - I know that Hopkins has written a lot of great, controversial books (at least that is what I have been told, as I have not read any of her books myself, yet). I have read the synopsis for several of her books though, and they do sound incredibly interesting. I am sure that I will eventually pick one up and give it a read.
9. James Patterson - I feel like most people have read at least ONE book by James Patterson, but I have yet to. It used to be because he seemed to write only adult books in the past, and that was not my thing (especially since I was not actually an adult). I know he writes for younger audiences now, but I still have not read any of his work.
10. Neal Shusterman - While I have not read any of his work yet, the Unwind series is on my list to read very, very soon. I didn't realize that he had written a lot of other, very popular books, that I have heard other teachers and librarians talk about before.
Some of these are pretty embarrassing, huh? Hopefully I'm not the only one who has not read some of these authors!
The only author on this list that I've actually read is Cassandra Clare. I read The Infernal Devices series and - surprising myself, as I didn't think I would - I liked it a lot. I've actually got two of these author's on my list as well. My list is here: http://pagesofstarlight.blogspot.com/2014/03/top-ten-popular-authors-ive-never-read.html
ReplyDeleteI know that a lot of people like her series. My brother has been into them, but I haven't started either. It's probably about time I do so! Thank you for stopping by. :]
DeleteHeehee I haven't read James Patterson either! And Meg Cabot....I just listened to the first few Princess Diaries books on audio recently. Until the narrator changed from Anne Hathaway to someone else, so I stopped lol. Ann Brashares books are really could contemporary!
ReplyDeleteJennifer @ A Librarian's Library--My TTT!
I was worried everyone would freak out about the James Patterson one. His stuff just isn't what I like to read! I am glad I am not the only one, though! I wouldn't mind getting to listen to the books narrated by Anne Hathaway, that sounds very cool. I will have to look into Ann Brashares books more, then. :] Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGood list, Ellen Hopkins is my favorite author so I recommend reading at least one book by her and I also love Meg Cabot although her books and Ellen Hopkins are nothing alike they're both still worth reading.
ReplyDeleteI have heard GREAT things about Ellen Hopkins books, so I am not sure why I have yet to pick one up! I will have to change that soon. Thanks for stopping by! :]
DeleteI don't think I've read hardly any of these either! Your list just reminded me how much I used to love Meg Cabot, though! I love her books!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I am not the only one, then! I felt horrible when I realized I had not read some of these authors! I will have to fix it, but there are just so many good ones out there, it's hard to keep up!
